Glacier National Park
I came out to Spokane to visit Mark and we decided to head to Glacier National Park for a few days. It is SO incredible...
as we entered the park we followed one of these red buses that are powered by propane. we did a couple days of hiking, but most of these pics are from the day we hiked up to the Grinnell Glacier in the eastern side of the park. to get there we took the Go-To-The-Sun road from West Glacier. It was so awesome!
in the picture below you can see how the road is carved out of the rockies... it is just so amazing. we crossed the continental divide at the top.
and saw this mountain goat just chillin
our hike began down in this valley by Swiftcurrent lake. then you traverse along Lake Josephine and head up above Grinnell lake- it was absolutely stunning!
the lake below is Ginnell Lake. it has that spectacular turqoise color because of the silt and sediment being washed out from the glacier and reflecting the light...
we were headed to just above that waterfall in the distance...
below is a picture of mark on the trail... it's a little hard to see him
... if this place doesn't make you feel humble and small, i don't know what else could.
we made it up to the glacier after it started to hail and thunder... but it was totally worth it!! there was this great lake of little icebergs... it's sad to read about how all of the glaciers have been retreating, and i was glad to get here and see this one. plus, i just love this environment, and get so excited to see ice and snow!
we started to get socked in by the storm, so started to head back
after a while the freezing rain stopped and we saw a beautiful double rainbow. as we made our way ran into a deer browsing on the trail. in this picture it's harder to see the rainbows, but one traces just along the edge of the mountain, and the other is above my head...
here you can see at least one of the rainbows... to end the journey we hopped on a boat that took us down the lakes to many glacier hotel...
it is such a beautiful place, i'm so glad that i was finally able to see it!

Berry Blobberific Pie
A berry nice day of picking black berries out at Uncle Jay and Aunt Chris' new Apple Gate residence on Popple Dungeon Road.
I was being chased out of the woods by a bear named Courtney...
Luckily the berries made it home safe to the Gauthier residence.
not a bad showing if i don't say so myself. so my cuz matt and i decided to make some pie!
i was trustingly put in charge of making the filling (i.e. mixing the fruit and sugar together).
matt was in charge of making the dough. the art of his baking has been well documented by the following set of pictures.
as you can tell we were both very excited about our respective jobs!
look at those beautiful pies... you would never even know if someone made the crust backwards, would you?
here is Uncle Mark trying out the product...

or, maybe he was just dared to eat a mix of all the leftover ingredients....
a delicious dare if you ask me.
